ALL ABOUT ME...

I am a Nurse Consultant working in Winnipeg, Manitoba. I love what I do and the people I support. I have been nursing for over a period spanning 28 years. I took time off from my career to raise my children and have been back in nursing since 2013. I currently work for St. Amant Center, which is an organization specializing in supporting adults and children with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and Autism. St. Amant is also one of the service providers for Jordan's Principle Manitoba.​

                       Moving from an institutional setting to community living...

                           

For those individuals transitioning from our facility to community, I ensure that they have all the medical needs set up in their new community home so that they can live a full healthy life.  This includes ensuring staff in their new 24 hour shift based home are trained and educated in all their health care needs and are able to provide support. I examine each person's personal and family history and help in identifying gaps ensuring their health remains the same or better with a move to a community setting.

                      Ensuring equitable health services for Indigenous children...

​

Within my role in the Jordan's Principle program as a nurse consultant, I travel to the remote northern reserves in Manitoba and provide education and training for families, nursing station staff, or community members that will assist families in caring for their child with complex medical needs. This assists families to remain with in their community and have their family remain intact without having to relocate to a larger city center in order to gain access for healthcare. I also train respite workers to assist in caring for the child and enable parents to receive a much needed break.

   

On a personal note I am a wife and mother of two beautiful children and mom to a beautiful 14 year old black lab.  I love to hike, camp, kayak, read and bake.
